Use the clipboard for technical objects

Audience: Administrators and managers

When you work with complex facility structures, you can manage disconnected assets, locate specific components, or quickly copy tree branches.

Prerequisites

Before you start:

To add a technical object, which is your facility, see Create technical objects.
To view and navigate facility structures, see Navigate facility structures.
To change how you structure facilities, see Edit the facility structure.

All following instructions start from this system path:

Navigate to Features > Core > Asset Management > Technical Object Search.
In the Filters panel, fill in one or more of the search fields.
Click Search.
In the Search technical object table, find the desired technical object.
Click the Three dots menu > Show structure.

The clipboard manages assets that are not currently attached to the active tree framework. To cut and paste nodes:

On the Facility tab, right-click the asset you want to move.
To move a node from the facility structure to the “Active clipboard” select either:
- Cut.
- Remove.
  - Note: If you remove assets, but forget to save them, they become “orphan” facilities that can be added to the active network again.
On the Facilities consistency page, click the Clipboard tab.
Find the facility you want to move.
- To temporarily hold nodes and branches that you have cut or removed, look in the Active clipboard at the top.
  - Note: Once you click Save, this section clears.
- To find "orphan" facilities that used to belong to the tree, look in the Unplugged facilities list.
- To search your entire system for assets, look in the Search bar.
  - Note: If you search for unassociated assets or another structure’s assets, they are automatically moved when you paste them into the new tree.
Right click the facility.
Select Select.
Click the Facility tab.
Right click a node to:
- Overwrite: If you select Paste, the system overwrites the node.
- Select a direction: The system creates a blank node for you to overwrite if you select:
  - Enter before.
  - Enter after.
  - Enter above.
  - Enter below.
