Edit the facility structure

Audience: Administrators and managers

Dynamically build and modify a facility structure directly from the visual tree framework.

Prerequisite

Before you start, learn how to navigate a technical object structure. See Navigate facility structures.

Follow the UI path

All following instructions start from this system path:

1. Navigate to Features > Core > Asset Management > Technical Object Search.

2. In the Filters panel, fill in one or more of the search fields.

3. Click Search.

4. In the Search technical object table, find the desired technical object.

5. Click the Three dots menu > Show structure.

Add and move nodes

To expand the tree by inserting new facilities or pasting existing ones. The system provides directional insertion tools to maintain the correct hierarchy:

1. In the Facility tab, right-click a child node.

2. Select an action:

   • Enter before: Adds a new facility above the selected node (as a “sibling”).

   • Enter after: Adds a new facility below the selected node (as a “sibling”).

   • Enter above: Adds a new facility to the left of the selected node (as a new “parent”).

   • Enter under: Adds a new facility to the right of the selected node (as a “child”).

   • Paste: Inserts a facility that you previously copied, cut, or searched for into the selected position. 

     • Note: Ensure the pasted facility type is allowed under the new parent node.

Remove and trim nodes

To remove parts of the tree:

1. In the Facility tab, right-click the target node.

2. Choose either:

   • Remove: Deletes the selected node and all of its recursive children from the tree. 

     • Note: If saved, these nodes are fully removed. If unsaved, they are temporarily moved to the clipboard.

   • Cut: It removes the node and its children from the current tree and moves them to the clipboard to be pasted later.

Modify node properties

To change node properties:

1. In the Facility tab, right-click the target node.

2. Select an option:

   • Modify: Opens an editing window for the selected facility to update its master data.

   • Massive status change: Allows you to change the operational status of the selected node and, optionally, all of its descending children at once.

   • Generate WO: Quickly create a work order (WO) pre-associated with the selected node. 

3. Choose either action:

   • To finish, click Insert and exit.

   • To keep the WO window open, click Insert.
