Use templates for technical objects

Audience: Administrators and managers

If your organization frequently creates identical facility frameworks, like standard pumping stations, use reusable templates facility groups to save time.

Prerequisites

Before you start:

• To add a technical object, which is your facility, see Create technical objects.

• To view and navigate facility structures, see Navigate facility structures.

• To change how you structure facilities, see Edit the facility structure.

Follow the UI path

All following instructions start from this system path:

1. Navigate to Features > Core > Asset Management > Technical Object Search.

2. In the Filters panel, fill in one or more of the search fields.

3. Click Search.

4. In the Search technical object table, find the desired technical object.

5. Click the Three dots menu > Show structure.

Create templates

To save the hierarchical framework of facility types.

1. In the Facility tab, right-click the top node of the branch you want to replicate.

2. Select Use as template.

Generate branches from templates

To paste the template onto a section of the facility structure:

1. In the Facility tab, click the Template management button.

2. Enter a code or description.

3. Click Search.

4. To view its structure, select a template. 

5. Click the Select template button.

6. Click the Facility tab.

7. To insert a new node where you want the template to start, right click the node.

8. To determine the node’s location, select an action:

   • Enter before.

   • Enter after.

   • Enter above.

   • Enter below.

9. Right-click the new node.

10. Select Generate from template.

11. To finalize the new branch, click Save.
