Resource loans enable you to temporarily use a resource at a different operations center (OC) for a fixed amount of time.
What happens when a resource is on loan
When you loan a resource::
-
The resource’s calendar is automatically created at the new OC and transferred from the old OC for the loan time frame.
-
Upon transferring, the selected resource transfers from the home OC to the destined OC.
-
The calendar associated with the resource on loan in the original OC is displayed as unavailable.
-
The calendar associated with the resource on loan in the destination OC is displayed as available.
-
In the daily plan, the resource on loan is displayed only in the daily plan of the destination OC:
Understand loan background processes
When you initiate a loan, the system runs checks, generates calendars, and removes irrelevant information:
-
The system runs a background check against the resource's current assignments.
-
To ensure active jobs aren’t abandoned, if validated work orders (WOs) exist in the source OC, it halts the transfer.
-
-
The calendar slots associated with the resource in their original OC are:
-
Automatically locked.
-
Flagged with an
unavailablestatus for the specified timeframe.
-
-
The system generates an identical, available calendar slot in the destination OC for that resource.
-
When the resource is removed from the daily scheduling view of the home OC, it is added to the destination OC’s daily plan, so local dispatchers can interact with them.
Understand loan logic
NextGen FSM’s system automates the entire transfer logic:
-
It verifies the technician doesn't have existing, validated WOs in their home OC that conflict with the loan.
-
It automatically locks the technician's calendar in the home OC as "unavailable" and generates a new, available calendar slot in the destination OC.
-
The technician immediately appears in the destination OC’s daily plan, so the new dispatcher can assign them routes and WOs until the loan period expires.
