Assign mandatory, favorite, and excluded resources

To easily assign large volumes of tasks that require the same resources, set reminders to include or exclude particular resources.

Prerequisites

Categorize resources 

Create reminders to include or exclude certain resources from work orders (WOs). 

Note: You can add a resource to multiple columns.

Assign resources from the schedulable activities list

To categorize a resource:

  1. Navigate to Features > Core > Daily and multi-day plan > Daily plan.

  2. Click the scheduled WO. 

  3. When the Schedulable Activities tab appears, right-click the WO card. 

  4. In the pop-up menu, click Associate Resources & Teams to open its panel.

  5. In the Resources column, drag and drop available resources into these columns: 

    • Mandatory: One or more resources required for a WO. 

      • Note: A warning appears if dispatchers try to assign the WO to resources other than the ones listed as mandatory.

    • Favorite: One or more resources preferred for a WO. 

      • Note: A warning appears if dispatchers try to assign the WO to a resource not listed in this column.

    • Excluded: One or more resources excluded from a WO. 

      • Note: A warning appears if dispatchers try to assign the WO to an excluded resource.

  6. To apply the changes to all selected tasks, click Save.

Assign resources from the map view

To categorize a resource:

  1. Navigate to Features > Core > Daily and multi-day plan > Daily plan.

  2. Open the Map View panel.

  3. Select the relevant activities on the map. 

    • The selected tasks will be highlighted.

  4. In the menu, click Associate Resources & Teams to open its panel.

  5. In the Resources column, drag and drop available resources into these columns: 

    • Mandatory: One or more resources required for a WO. 

      • Note: A warning appears if dispatchers try to assign the WO to resources other than the ones listed as mandatory.

    • Favorite: One or more resources preferred for a WO. 

      • Note: A warning appears if dispatchers try to assign the WO to a resource not listed in this column.

    • Excluded: One or more resources excluded from a WO. 

      • Note: A warning appears if dispatchers try to assign the WO to an excluded resource.

  6. To apply the changes to all selected tasks, click Save.

Remove a resource

To remove a resource from the Mandatory, Favorite, or Excluded column, choose one:

  • Click the trash icon next to the resource name.

  • Drag the resource back to the list of available resources.

Automatically categorize a resource

To automatically set a resource that executes a WO to mandatory, favorite, or excluded:

  1. Navigate to Configuration > Core > Work Order Management > Accounting > Outcome Causes.

  2. Click a WO. 

  3. In the Outcome Cause window, click the Resource association dropdown.

  4. Select one of these options:

    • Mandatory Resource

    • Preferred Resource

    • Excluded Resource

  5. Click Save.

Integration with dynamic scheduling

To calculate the optimal plan:

  • The system automatically evaluates Mandatory and Excluded requirements.

  • Mandatory resources are prioritized and Excluded resources are bypassed.
