Configure Outcome Causes

Outcome causes define the options field technicians use to debrief and close Work Orders (WO). Accurate configuration ensures that data collected from the field, such as why a job was completed or why it failed, is standardized for reporting.

Define Preliminary Outcome Data

Before you create specific outcome causes, you must set the high-level classifications at the database and UI levels.

  1. Navigate to Technical Settings > DB Levels

  2. Ensure the following tables are populated with your project-specific categories:

    • XWFMLCLASSEESITO: Populates the "Outcome Classes" (e.g., Technical, Administrative).

    • XWFMLTIPIESITO: Populates the "Outcome Types" (e.g., Final, Partial).

  3. Navigate to Configuration > Core > Work Order Management > Accounting > Encoded Notes on WO.

  4. Click New.

  5. Enter the Code and Description for notes that technicians can select during debriefing.

  6. Click Save.

Create a new outcome cause

You can create the specific causes available to the technicians.

  1. Navigate to Configuration > Core > Work Order Management > Accounting > Outcome Causes.

  2. Click New.

  3. Fill out the following mandatory fields:

    • Code: Enter a unique alphanumeric identifier.

    • Description: Enter a clear name for the outcome cause.

    • Class: Select the appropriate class from the dropdown.

    • Outcome Type: Choose the type, such as Success or Failure.

    • Causal Type: Define if this is a standard or emergency outcome cause.

  4. Click Save.

Manage outcome rules and logic

Optionally, you can define how these outcomes impact the status of the Work Order or trigger follow-up actions.

  1. Click the three dots menu for a specific cause.

  2. Select Edit Rules to define parameters such as whether this outcome forces the WO to close, triggers a "Second Visit," or requires specific technical data attachments.

  3. Enter the required logic values

  4. Click Save.

To define which technical data sheets appear on the FSM Mobile app based on the selected outcome:

  1. Navigate to Configuration > Core > Work Order Management > Accounting > Intervention Groups

  2. Click the Edit Rules icon for the group you want to associate an outcome cause with.

  3. In the Intervention Group Application Rules window, click New Rule and fill out the following:

    • Outcome Type: Select the category (e.g., Success, Failure).

    • Outcome Cause Type: Specify if it is a standard or specific cause.

    • Outcome Cause: Select the exact cause (e.g., "Meter Replaced") that should trigger this group.

  4. Click Confirm.

To define which outcomes are available for a specific type of work:

  1. Navigate to Configuration > Core > Work Order Management > Accounting > Outcome Causes.

  2. Click the Encoded Notes Association icon for the outcome you want to associate.

  3. In the management window, find the relevant notes in the Non-associated Notes column.

  4. Drag and drop the notes into the Associated Notes column.

  5. Click Save.
