Audience: Administrators
Enable, configure, and schedule activities for linear assets that span across geographical distances. Unlike traditional assets located at a specific point, linear assets have distinct start and end points like railway segments, pipelines, or power lines.
Prerequisites
Before you start:

Make sure you have added facility types.

In Technical Settings > Company, enable the
company.fsm.linearAssetsparameter.-
Note: When you create a new facility type as a linear asset, check the linear asset flag. See Manage facility types.

Follow the UI path
The following instructions start from this system path:
Features > Core > Asset Management > Technical Object Search
Configure linear assets
To set up assets with start and end points:

On the Technical object search page, click + New.

On the Personal data tab, in the Facility type field, select Line.

Enter the asset’s code and any other desired information.

In the Normalized start address section and the End address section, define

Longitude: The exact base longitude of the start or end point.

Latitude: The exact base latitude of the start or end point.

Access point longitude: The longitude where technicians physically access the asset.

Access point latitude: The latitude where technicians physically access the asset.

Access time: The minutes of travel from the access point to the start or end point of the actual asset.

In the End address section, click the Reversible checkbox.

This toggle allows the system to reverse the entry and exit points when planning a route.

To account for travel time, schedule work orders with the specific calculations.

Click Save.
