Automatically schedule a Bundle

This topic explains how the FSM Platform handles Work Order (WO) Bundles during automatic scheduling and route optimization. Because a Bundle acts as a single, unified entity, the system's automated engines schedule and optimize all of its aggregated operations simultaneously, ensuring the grouped work is never split across different technicians or timeframes.

Prerequisites

  • These capabilities are integrated into the standard scheduling algorithms and optimization tools within the FSM Platform.

Integration with Automated Scheduling Engines

When you create a bundle (either manually or via rules), it becomes eligible for the platform's standard automated dispatching processes. You do not need a separate workflow to automate bundle assignments.

The Job Bundler fully supports the following core engines:

  • Automatic Scheduling: The system evaluates the bundle's total required duration, mandatory skills, and geographic coordinates, assigning it to the optimal resource just as it would a standalone, complex work order.

  • Automatic Reelaboration (Real-Time): If schedules are disrupted, the real-time reelaboration engine can dynamically shift the entire bundle to a new time slot or resource to maintain SLA compliance and route efficiency.

Integration with Route Optimization Tools

Once a bundle is assigned to a specific field resource or team, dispatchers often run optimization processes to fine-tune the daily sequence. The engine treats the bundle as a locked block of work during these processes, ensuring the internal sequence of the bundle remains intact while its overall position in the technician's day is optimized.

Supported optimization functions include:

  • Optimize Route: Reorganizes the technician's assigned activities (including bundles) to minimize travel time and distance.

  • Optimize and Complete Route: Optimizes the current assignments and automatically pulls in additional schedulable activities to fill any remaining gaps in the technician's shift.

  • Re-calibrate / Actualize: Adjusts the remaining daily schedule based on real-time delays or early completions, shifting the bundle's expected start time accordingly.
