Optimize routes for scheduled activities

Important: Routes can only be optimized if resources work with the same team all day.

Reorganize existing work order (WO) assignments, fill gaps in a technician's schedule, or align the current plan with real-time field progress.

Optimize routes

Important: If a WO is multi-day and begins or ends the day, its schedule is fixed.

To efficiently calculate activity sequences from the road network and appointment slots:

  1. Navigate to Features > Core > Daily and Multi-day plan > Daily Plan.

  2. Right-click a resource.

  3. Click Optimize > Optimize Route.

  4. Optional (For teams only): If prompted with a "Base Point" dialog, select one:

    • Keep current address: Uses the team’s current departure/arrival point.

    • Use resource address: Sets the team’s reference to the base point of the clicked resource.

  5. Click Confirm.

Optimize and complete route

Important: Added activities must match the resource’s skills, work calendar, and required time slots.

To reorganize assignments for efficiency and automatically add new activities to fill gaps in a resource’s schedule:

  1. Navigate to Features > Core > Daily and Multi-day plan > Daily Plan.

  2. To open the context menu, right-click a resource.

  3. Click Optimize > Optimize and Complete Route.

  4. Optional (For teams only): If prompted, select your base point preference:

    • Shared team address.

    • Individual resource address.

  5. Click Confirm.

Note: You can generate a full day of work for a resource with no assigned activities.

Update a schedule

To account for real-time progress and adjust the activity sequence:

  1. Navigate to Features > Core > Daily and Multi-day plan > Daily Plan.

  2. Right-click a resource.

  3. Click Optimize > Re-calibrate/Actualize.

    • Note: Recalibrate/Actualize does not add or remove orders.

Notes:

  • Tasks are rescheduled according to debriefed activities and the last known GPS position

  • While start and end times adjust in real-time, the activity order remains the same.
