Create and configure technical objects

Add and set up facilities and customers to ensure work orders (WOs) are correctly linked to the physical or logical assets where work is performed. This allows for precise scheduling, historical activity tracking, and enforcing rules based on the asset type.

Preliminary Asset Configuration

Before creating individual assets, you must define the high-level types, statuses, and hierarchical rules that govern them.

  1. Define facility types.

    1. See Create a Facility Type

  2. Configure the facility status.

    1. See Create a Facility Status

  3. Configure facility status deduction rules.

    1. See Create a Facility Status Deduction Rule

  4. Define the facility type’s hierarchy.

    1. See Define facility type hierarchy

  5. Make the facility visible for your users.

    1. See Enable visibility

  6. If your assets require specific technical attributes or dre-defined drop-down menus, you can create a feature characteristic class or value list.

    1. See Configure Asset Management Basics

Create Facilities and Customers

After you create the infrastructure, you can manually create the assets and customers in the system.

Add a new facility

To add a new facility, see Search for Technical Objects.

Add a new customer

Assign Geographic Coordinates

Coordinates are essential for showing assets on the map and calculating technician travel times.

  1. Locate your new Facility or Customer in the search results.

  2. Click the Coordinates icon (pin/globe icon).

  3. Enter the Latitude and Longitude values manually, or use the normalization tool to fetch them from the address.
