Manage unexpected skills in work orders

Add or update skills on a flagged work order (WO) that requires additional skills. Keep a WO open when it requires skills or tools the resources don’t have.

Prerequisites

⚠️ Important:

  • Ensure you have the necessary permissions to manage WOs:

    • Your user profile must have the fsm.core.skill.override.edit permission enabled.

    • See How to Manage User Types and Permissions.

  •  Ensure the WO has the insufficient skills flag enabled.

    • The intervention record should be closed with a partial outcome that has the Enable insufficient Skills flag set to true

    • The WO status should be “blocked," unschedulable, and visible in the accounting monitor.

    • See Configuring Outcome Causes for insufficient Skills.

Find a blocked work order

  1. Click Work Order Management > Accounting Monitor.

  2. To search for WOs marked for override skills, use filters in the Execution Data section.

    • Filter by criteria such as the Outcome Cause and Operation Center.

  3. On the row of the WO, click the Three dot menu.

  4. To open the Skill Override Configuration panel, select Override Skills.

    • Note: You can only make changes if you have permission to manage WOs.

Override skills for unscheduled work orders

  1. Click the Search WO menu.

  2. Select a WO.

  3. Click the Work Order Operations tab.

  4. On the line of the WO, click the Three dot menu.

  5. To open the Skill Override Configuration panel, select Override Skills.

    • Note: You can only make changes if you have permission to manage WOs.

Note: The new skill configuration applies to all subsequent scheduling activities, both manual and automated.

Modify and assign skills

  1. In the Skill Override Configuration panel, update the header fields:

    • Code

    • Description

    • Min Cardinality

    • Max Cardinality

  2. To find the skills you need, use the search fields in the Skill Override Assignment section.

  3. Drag and drop skills from the Available skills table to the Assigned skills table.

  4. Adjust the cardinality for each assigned skill as needed.

Save or cancel the new skill configuration

  • To store the new skill configuration and keep the WO’s status the same, click Save.

    • The work order is blocked and unschedulable.

    • Note: Override skills isn’t permitted for bundler operations.

  • To save new skills and remove the WO’s blocked status, click Save and Unlock

    • The WO is now available to schedule again.

  • To exit without saving any changes, click Close.
