About skills, qualifications and roles

Manage skills and qualifications with NextGen’s FSM. Skills are the abilities and expertise that resources possess to perform the work order (WO). 

Match skills and resources

The system provides:

  • A primary skills database in the Skills interface.

    • Click Main > Core > Configurations > Skill Management > Skills.

  • A way to assign one or more skills to a resource in the Resources interface.

    1. Click Main > Scheduling Configuration > Resources Management > Resources.

    2. Select Skills, Qualifications, and Roles.

  • A way to require one or more skills for the WO.

    • Note: This isn’t necessary when adding manual scheduling.

Match outcomes

The system handles the match between a resource or team’s skills and those required for a WO as either:

  • A warning (manual scheduling).

  • A strong or blocking constraint (automatic scheduling).
