Audience: Administrators, dispatchers, and operations managers
To ensure field activities only proceed when legal, technical, and administrative prerequisites are met, work order (WO) permits must be valid to schedule WOs.
The many types of permits have different effects on scheduling.
Prerequisites
Before you start:
-
To make permit types that authorize fieldwork, see Create permit types.
-
To make a permit that expires after an intervention, see Create a permit for a single intervention.
Automatically schedule with permits
Before the data is automatically mapped and routed:
-
The algorithm verifies if all blocker permits were obtained and are valid within the processing period.
-
If a blocker permit is missing or invalid for the entire period, the activity is rejected.
-
Note: To see rejected tasks, navigate to Features > Scheduling Optimization > Automatic Scheduling > Scheduling Log.
-
-
If permits are only valid for a specific window of time, the activity can only be planned when validity periods overlap.
Manually schedule with permits
Important: If blocker permits are missing or expired, that activity remains unassigned.
To manually schedule WOs that require permits:
-
Navigate to Features > Core > Daily and Multi-day plan > Daily Plan.
-
In the Filters menu, enter:
-
Work center: The affected work center.
-
Date: The date the permit needs to be valid.
-
Any desired WOs parameters.
-
For all fields, see Reference: Search WO.
-
-
-
Click Search.
-
On the Daily plan page, click the Schedulable activities tab.
-
Find and drag an activity onto the designated resource or team timeline.
-
If non-blocker permits are missing or expired, a warning appears.
-
To ignore the missing prerequisite, click Continue.
-
To stop the assignment, click Cancel.
-
Understand manual validation logic
Here are the types of permits, their statuses, and the effects on actions:
|
Permit type |
Permit status |
Result |
|
No permits |
N/A |
The action is allowed, but subject to other constraints like skills. |
|
Blocker |
Acquired & Valid |
The action is allowed. |
|
Blocker |
Not acquired or Expired |
You receive a hard rejection alert that the action is blocked. |
|
Non-blocking |
Acquired & Valid |
The action is allowed. |
|
Non-blocking |
Not acquired or Expired |
The system gives you a warning and asks if you want to proceed or cancel. |
