This guide shows you how to connect a Work Center to a Crew Shell in NextGen FSM. This enhancement lets dispatchers filter crews by specific organizational subdivisions, such as territorial subareas, distinct contractors, or specialized teams.
You can associate each crew shell with only one work center.
Prerequisites
-
Confirm that you have administrative access to NextGen FSM.
-
Confirm that all the Work Center types you plan to use are defined and active in the system and associated with your Operational Center. If you need to define or associate new ones, refer to the Associated work centers configuration (ENG) documentation.
Associate a Work Center with a Crew Shell
To associate the Work Center with the Crew Shell when you create or edit the crew shell, follow these steps:
-
Navigate to the Crew Shell Monitor interface (Main Menu > Features > Core > Resource Management > Crew Shell Monitor).
-
Open the Creation/Editing panel.
-
Find the Work Center Type field.
-
Use the dropdown menu to choose from the active work centers linked to the Crew Shell's assigned Operational Center. The system orders the work center types in the dropdown based on criteria defined in the Work Center master data.
-
Save the crew shell configuration.
What's Next
Associating a Work Center with a Crew Shell enhances the filtering and management capabilities for dispatchers in consoles like the Daily Plan and Multi-Day Plan. Dispatchers can now use the Work Center Type filter criterion to:
-
Filter Resources: Retrieve only the crew shells linked to a selected work center type.
-
Manage Territorial Subareas: Filter and assign tasks to crews operating in a specific geographic subarea (identified by the Work Center).
-
Isolate Subcontractors: Focus on crew shells belonging to a particular subcontractor to manage their workload.
-
Assign Specialized Tasks: Locate and assign crews with specific specializations defined by the Work Center to relevant jobs.
For more information on defining and associating work centers with an Operational Center, read the Associated work centers configuration (ENG) documentation. You can also find more information about the Crew Shells functionality in the Manage Crew Shells documentation
