The Resource Forecast feature allows you to simulate available capacity by configuring various types of work shifts.
You can create forecasts based on either:
-
Actual resources and calendars already defined in the system.
-
Simulated resources and calendars for hypothetical scenarios.
A significant advantage of using resource forecasts is their complete independence from actual resource and calendar data. This means any adjustments or edits made within the forecast simulation will not impact the live operational data in your system.
Before you start
-
Configure at least one resource: Add and edit resources
Add a Calendar
-
In the FSM App, navigate to FEATURES → FORECASTING & CAPACITY PLANNING → RESOURCE FORECAST
-
Use the filter panel to search for existing forecast records
-
Clicking the option button related to the Resource Forecast, going on “Detail” option the configuration page will be showed as a calendar view.
-
Clicking on the resource’s option button and going on “Add Calendar” option, it is possible to define a calendar for the selected resource using the related form.
-
Clicking “Generate Preview” button the system will generate a preview before to add the calendar. A timeframes table will show all work-shift updated for each day for the selected resource, in this way OLD HOURS → NEW HOURS.
Example (considering the first day in the figure Figure 3 - Generate Preview):
-
Work Duration: 8h → 8h : it means it isn’t changed
-
Unavailability: 1h → 30m : it means that before was 1h and now 30 minutes per day
-
Unusable time: no updates
-
Max Overtime: 1h 30m → : it means that before was 1h 30m and now is deleted, so no overtime for that day.
Edit a Calendar
-
In the FSM App, navigate to FEATURES → FORECASTING & CAPACITY PLANNING → RESOURCE FORECAST
-
Use the filter panel to search for existing forecast records
-
Clicking the option button related to the Resource Forecast, going on “Detail” option the configuration page will be showed as a calendar view.
-
To edit or delete an already existing calendar’s cell, right-click on a colored cell and click “Edit calendar” (it works always with “Replace” update mode) or “Delete Calendar”
-
Note: If I click the “Edit Calendar” or “Delete period” button on a collapsed view (week or month), it works on the entire period.
