The organizational hierarchy determines how work orders (WOs) are routed and how territorial resources are distributed.
Operations Centers (OCs)
The fundamental operational unit is the Operations Center. Each OC handles the WOs and resources associated with a specific geographic territory. This geographic area is built by grouping administrative boundaries (e.g., Departments, Counties, or Districts).
See the configuration guide: Configure an Operations Center
Organizational Structures
A Structure defines the rigid operational hierarchy of what an OC does. Each Structure is divided into several OCs to manage its designated territory.
Structure Applications:
A single Structure is typically dedicated to a specific:
-
Type of activity
-
Sector (e.g., Power, Gas, Water)
-
Process (e.g., Maintenance, Booking, Emergency)
Structure Grouping Rules:
The "Structure" concept allows the Next-Gen FSM Platform to manage multiple territorial subdivisions, enabling the system to have dual OCs for the same territory based on their function.
-
Single OC per Structure: Within the same Structure, a city may belong to only one OC.
-
Multiple OCs across Structures: A city may belong to more than one OC only if those OCs are assigned to different Structures.
See the configuration guide: Configure Structure
Areas
An Area is a flexible way to group OCs together for custom geographical or management purposes. They exist completely outside of the strict hierarchy of a Structure.
Area Grouping Rules:
-
Multiple Areas per OC: A single Operations Center may be associated with multiple Areas at the same time.
See the configuration guide: Configure Area
