A Resource is a worker out in the field, often called a technician. Resources are the people who carry out Work Orders. The availability of Resources is one of the FSM’s main considerations in scheduling work.
A Resource is always affiliated with one particular Operations Center. A Resource can be added to Teams, Formations, and Crew Shells within that Operations Center, which enables multiple Resources to be assigned work together. They can also be temporarily loaned out to other Operations Centers. Their work is assigned to them with Work Shifts.
Resources can be assigned Skills, Qualifications, and Roles, which enables the FSM to assign them to Activities more strategically. They can also be assigned to a particular Scheduling Area within the Operations Center, which enables the automatic scheduling of Resources.
When Resource is created, it is always given a Resource Type, which normally describes whether or not a Resource is “Internal” or “External.” A Resource is also a specific category of FSM User and is therefore always given a User Type.
Creating Resources is a necessary part of using the FSM. They can be created manually using the FSM User Interface, or they can be imported in a batch. They’re often imported when the FSM is first set up, then added manually later, as new workers join the company.
Resources can be created/viewed at the following menu in the FSM App:

The FSM adds/modifies Resources with the Resource endpoints in the FSM’s Private API Suite. This is for internal use only. External systems can add Resources to the database by using the Resource endpoints in the FSM’s Integration API Suite.
