A Resource is a worker in the field, often called a technician. The availability of Resources is one of the FSM’s main considerations in scheduling work. It is necessary to have Resources in the system to use the FSM.
This topic explains how to import Resources from an .xls file.
If you want to manually create a Resource using the FSM App, see Create a Resource.
Before you start
Prepare the .xls file
Read the guide for how the Resources import file must be formatted.
This import file should be stored on the same device which the FSM Desktop user will be using to access the App. Remember its file path.
Referenced Objects
A Resource is associated with the following entities:
Make sure that at least one of each has been created before you import the Resources. Also, make sure that the values in these three columns of the .xls file all match the Code for an existing User Type, Resource Type, and Operations Center, respectively. Otherwise, you won’t be able to import the Resources.
There are several optional fields in the .xls file that reference other FSM objects:
-
Work Center
-
Vehicle
-
Warehouse
-
Enterprise
-
Enterprise Group
If any of these columns contain values, make sure that the values in these columns all match the Code for an existing object.
