This topic explains how to create a simulation scenario.
Before you start
-
Configure the module: ⚠️
Create a Simulation
-
Open on the Simulation Scenario module
-
Click the “New Simulation” button. A panel appears.
-
Fill out the form with the following information:
-
Name
-
Description
-
Area of interest to select the area of interest for the simulation
-
-
Confirm, and a new simulation will be created in “Started” status.
Simulation Lifecycle
Each simulation follows a formal lifecycle guiding users from creation to closure.
Lifecycle states:
-
Started: the simulation is created and editable but has no linked hypotheses.
-
Active: the normal working state; it has a hypothesis and users work on it.
-
Closed: a winner is announced, and the simulation is read-only.
Delete functionality: power users can delete a simulation. This action requires confirmation and is permanent. Deleting a simulation also removes its hypotheses and linked geodatabase branch versions.
Create an Hypothesis
-
Click the “New Hypothesis” button. A panel appears.
-
Fill out the form with the following information:
-
Name
-
Description
-
-
Click Save. The hypothesis will be created in “Working” status.
-
Click on the hypothesis.
-
Select the Layer to edit and click Start editing.
-
Use the editing panel and once the work is completed, confirm and save. All operations are confined within the AOI of the Simulation.
-
The hypothesis is now saved with all edits applied.
Compare hypothesis
After saving the changes, the user can create additional Hypotheses and use the comparison tool to analyze the differences between alternatives.
The workflow culminates with the ability to designate a Hypothesis as "Winning" (Set as Winner).
-
Click on the hypothesis.
-
Click the Compare button.
-
In the panel select the layer to use for the compare. The two hyphotesis will be showed in double-map.
-
To approve the hypothesis, close the double map and click the approve button. The hypothesis will change the status to “Approved”
-
At this point, the entire Simulation (including all its hypotheses) becomes read-only. No further editing is allowed, and it is not possible to change the approved one.
-
All other hypothesis will change the status in “Rejected”
After saving the changes, the user can create additional Hypotheses and use the comparison tool to analyze the differences between alternatives.
The workflow culminates with the ability to designate a Hypothesis as "Winning" (Set as Winner).
After confirmation, this action has a formal implication: the system will execute a reconcile and then a post operation in sequence, aligning the default version with the winning hypothesis's data.
Status change
The winner hypothesis, previously in working status, moves to winner status, while all other hypotheses move to loser status. The simulation then moves to completed status.
